Cleaning Without Chemicals 

Eco-friendly products are kinder all around, but you can make many of your own by raiding the kitchen cupboards. 

 

*Malt vinegar makes an great all-round cleaner when diluted 50/50 with water. decant the mixture into a spray pump bottle for cleaning glass and for the final wash on wood floors and other interior surfaces (do not use on antiques or paintwork).

* White vinegar is the traditional limescale remover, apply to cotton wool, wrap around taps and leave to soak before washing off with soap and water. 

* Lemon juice mixed with salt is an alternative to bleach, and brings copper and brass back to life. 

* Stainless steel will benefit from a clean with baby oil or olive oil. Use neat, but sparingly, to see stunning results. 

*baking soda makes a good all purpose cleaner/scourer when made into paste with a little lemon juice. Use salt with lemon juice to create a more abrasive scourer (do not use on stainless steel). 

* Essential oils such as pine, lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus are all natural disinfectants. Mix with hot water and decant into a spray pump bottle or add directly to the mop bucket.
