Home Office Decorating and Feng Shui

Many small businesses first started at home. A small room was converted into an office and when everything was going well, the entrepreneur may choose to continue doing the work here or rent some space elsewhere.

When it comes to home office decorating, it isn't necessary to tear down walls or have a costly renovation. The individual will just have to move some stuff around to create an environment that is conducive to working.

One way to guide the person in decorating is the principles of Feng Shui. Basically, the way the office looks like helps bring prosperity to the business.

The workstation at home can’t be called office without a table. This must be the central focus of the room and must be positioned facing the door. This is not always possible so the alternative will be to put a mirror to have a view of the door.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there must be a solid wall behind the desk. Those who follow this will have strong support for the entrepreneur and the business.

Feng Shui also specifies that the individual have a good view outside through a window. If the study where the office is located has no window, again a mirror must be placed to be able to see what is happening outside the house.

When this has been done, it is time to put the other things on the table. The computer should be placed to one side with the telephone nearby. This will make it easy to answer should someone call.

The office table must also have a comfortable chair. This is because the business is like a small kingdom and the king who is the person must sit there as though it is a throne. A comfortable chair is key in order to be productive.

When this has been taken care of, the other stuff such as a garbage can, shelves and cabinets will be secondary when decorating the home office. The area must always be clean and organized so it will be easy to find things when needed.

Feng Shui isn't only used for business. Many Chinese use this to bring prosperity and peace to those who live and visit the home. Those who want to know more about this eastern practice can read a book and practice its principles.
